This project involved the development of the official website for SID Lab(Scalefree Integrative Discovery Laboratory) at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Korea University. The website was designed to effectively present the lab’s advanced interdisciplinary research, including M-CELS(Multi-Cellular Engineered Living Systems), organ-mimicking chips, organoids, 3D bioprinting, and drug screening, to both domestic and international academic audiences. It also provides a structured academic platform for managing lab information such as researchers, publications, patents, and projects, with a bilingual Korean-English structure to strengthen global academic accessibility.

2. ABOUT M-CELS — What is M-CELS?
M-CELS is an engineered living system that precisely mimics human tissues and organs by integrating multiple cell types with advanced technologies such as micro/nanofabrication and 3D bioprinting. Its realization relies on a broad interdisciplinary convergence, fundamentally merging mechanical and biotechnological engineering.

By recreating specific disease microenvironments using patient-derived cells, M-CELS enables high-throughput screening for drug toxicity and efficacy. This paves the way for personalized precision medicine, aiming to overcome complex diseases like cancer, dementia, and diabetes.

4. RESEARCH — What We Study
Research field cards (six):
1. Organ/Tissue-on-a-Chip — We precisely mimic the microenvironments of specific human organs and tissues on a chip using microfluidic technology.
2. Organoids & Tissue Engineering — We culture and assemble organoids—3D mini-organs—to create systems highly analogous to actual human tissues.
3. 3D Bioprinting & Micro/Nanofabrication — We fabricate multi-cellular engineered living systems (M-CELS) by integrating advanced 3D bioprinting and nanoscale microfabrication technologies.
4. Drug Screening & Evaluation — We rapidly and accurately evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of new drugs using our developed disease models, aiming to replace animal testing.
5. Precision Medicine — We conduct research using patient-derived cells to develop personalized therapies and significantly reduce treatment costs.
6. Disease Mechanism Modeling — We replicate and study the onset and progression of complex, incurable diseases such as cancer, dementia, and diabetes in a laboratory setting.
