KikiLab Concludes Social Problem-Solving “GEEKs Hackathon 2026”

The Korea Economic Daily reported on August 27 that “GEEKs Hackathon 2026,” an SDGs-based social problem-solving hackathon hosted by KikiLab, was held at MARU180 in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, from August 4 to 5, 2026.

The inaugural event brought together high school and university students in teams to identify social challenges and implement software-based solutions. Participants worked through the full project cycle, including problem definition, service planning, development, deployment, and presentation.

Project presentations and judging took place on the final day. The judging panel included Jungmin Oh, CEO and Research Institute Director of DevFive; Wonjun Lee, CEO of IFZERO; and Bulhok Coding. Entries were evaluated on planning and originality, social problem-solving and alignment with the SDGs, technical quality and completeness, feasibility and expected impact, and presentation and communication.

Team 13 won the Grand Prize for “MOEUM,” developed under the theme of quality education. Team 10 received the Excellence Prize for “Keepsy,” while Team 6 earned an Outstanding Prize for “GreenPick,” among other awards.

Dowon Lee, CEO of KikiLab, emphasized the value of participants defining problems themselves, collaborating with teammates, and completing working outcomes. The GEEKs organizing office plans to continue programs that give student developers and aspiring entrepreneurs opportunities to take on projects and goals.
