This year's competition was held under the overarching theme of “developing AI innovation solutions that change people's lives,” across four categories: digital health, digital safety, digital inclusion, and digital education. A total of 410 teams applied, including 88 teams in digital health, 93 in digital safety, 122 in digital inclusion, and 107 in digital education.
Through evaluation and review by a panel of expert judges, three teams from each category, 12 teams in total, were selected for the finals. During the final round held from May 16 to 17, participating teams improved their outcomes through mentoring programs involving external experts, gave team presentations, underwent expert judging, and had their final rankings confirmed by combining the expert scores with public voting results.
The Grand Prize went to the DevFive team. The DevFive team developed a conversational AI companion service that helps older adults and people with disabilities easily complete complex public HWP documents using only voice, photos, and handwriting on a board. The Excellence Prize went to the CSI team, which developed technology that monitors patient conditions in real time using Wi-Fi signals and on-device AI without cameras or body-worn sensors.
Kwon Seok-min, director of the National Science Museum, said, “This competition is meaningful because it was not merely a venue for technology development, but an opportunity for citizens to participate directly as co-existence designers in the AI era, going beyond the role of policy consumers.” He added, “We hope the solutions developed through this competition will become a practical starting point for filling blind spots in our society and improving quality of life.”
